US Military Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Lacking Providing Details.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that US military assets targeted a "major facility" in the South American country recently. Yet, the former president did not specify the exact nature or site of the target, and there has been no further comment from his camp.

Vague Remarks Offered In a Radio Interview

"US forces just knocked out – I don't know if you heard – they have a major complex, where the ships originate. Recently, we destroyed it. So we struck them with significant force," Trump reportedly said to GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Implications of a Verified Strike

Should a US military action is confirmed, it would represent the initial ground target hit since the Pentagon initiated a buildup of American military presence in the region to interdict narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration asserts operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The initial mission of the force deployment has evolved into a blockade aimed at disrupting the nation's oil exports.

Online Footage and Administration Statements

Trump has for some time indicated that American military units are ready to widen the military campaign by hitting targets within Venezuela, a move that would in theory require legislative authorization.

Video footage posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion said to be from an industrial area in Zulia state. Yet, the video or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team allegedly told a news network that the president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Response and Current Strategic Posture

The Caracas administration has issued no statement on the incident Trump described. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela regarding it.

The presence of US military in the region – a position certain officials have termed a maritime "quarantine" – represents the most expansive maritime enforcement action of the Trump era.

Officials have stopped short from labeling the action as a blockade, but have confirmed that approximately 15,000 troops are deployed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to enforce existing sanctions.
