The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services. The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Updates Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said. Manual Updates Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said. Service Background The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
